Come on, give me the chills

Thoughts about changing, life, and whatever comes to mind.

  • reinforce

Skipping habits is very similar to lies in the sense that if you start skipping one habit, it’ll become easier to skip the next one, and so on.

Just like lies, a little lie can become the norm and it grows bigger every day.

Habits are reinforced when we don’t skip them. They grow stronger each time we do them. And again, lies, on the other hand, grow weaker each time we prefer truth to a lie, even if a little one.

This is also true with any value or goal we stand for. Each little step is a reinforcement of our belief. If we choose the wrong belief we’ll reinforce something we’d like to avoid, but if we are aware of the good ones we can direct our attention to them, and let them bloom over time.

  • to grow

You have many ways to grow as a human, to learn kindness, hospitality. To learn welcoming people and understanding their struggles.

You can read books. Ton of books.

Or watch TV shows, there are so many of them.

Or you could have some bad luck.

Yes, because if we’re open-minded, it’s when something goes really bad in our life that we can relate to other people’s struggles. We start to see how it impacted us and how maybe other people are suffering from this.

Life can teach us so many things if we’re keen to listen and to observe. To see what drives others and what guides their choices and words.

To comprehend their problems so that we might help them.

But in the end, it’s up to us to listen.

You can always blame luck, or blame someone else for your problems and not realize how much you can learn from them. In those cases, there is no backstory to search in misfortune. Nothing to learn.

  • be ok

When will you be ok with your results, your performance, your achievements?
I was thinking a few days ago about the fact that in sales there’s hardly a moment when people can say “Ok, we have enough money, let’s pause”:

But if you think about it, will that time ever come? No. In every piece of our life and our work, we’ll be chasing something, going after a moving target.

I sometimes wonder what the world would be if we could actually stop at one point. Be happy with what we have and move on.

How would you feel? How would this shape our choices?

  • look stupid

Have you ever tried something that looks stupid?

I did, but every time there’s something that’s holding me off.

What will they think of me, how will I look, what will they say?

But, on the other hand, they reinforce us. They make us stronger. Because we all know that we shouldn’t care too much about these kinds of opinions.

You might even want to go further and wear something that looks ridiculous once every week. To be comfortable in that scenario, to remind yourself that you’re the same person, with the same values, even if you look silly, even if the world outside will disagree with you.

  • what if you could just write

I just read the new OpenAI API Plugin spec and everything felt old for a moment.

The whole idea that a program can figure out how to integrate with an API based only on

    1. API Structure
    2. API Descriptions written in text

make every API integration feel outdated.

The whole idea of letting a program do the heavy lifting and figuring out how to use an API, makes it so compelling, so interesting.

We’re heading towards a future where text might be the new communication interface, although I don’t like how these services are closed-sources, it’s hard to not be excited.
