Come on, give me the chills

Thoughts about changing, life, and whatever comes to mind.

  • in your head

    What is stress, after-all?

Part of it is how we envision things. Our expectations about reality, our feelings of what we can accomplish, and what we can define as failures.

Those, for many of us, are words that make sense in our heads. Even though they feel real, they don’t exist. We are making them up.

There is no greater war than the one we fight inside our heads. It’s a never-ending battle and there is hardly a winner.

  • back to the roots

What are some things you learned as a kid, that you don’t practice anymore? It could be handwriting, math, etc.

You might not practice these skills every day, therefore some of them might be a little bit rusty.
What if you go back to them and practice again?

Retraining your mind to learn something again, but with a different skill-set, is to me an interesting approach because you can approach learning again and see the differences between then and now.
Retraining your mind to “study” in the old sense or, even better, to adapt the way you study to what you have learned now about retaining information.

  • on saying no to yourself

It’s not easy to say no to others when they have an exciting proposal for you. Many people suggest you should learn to say no to them, to value the time you have for yesses so that you can achieve more in life.

The same is true for saying no to yourself. Well, it might be even harder since it’s hard to argue against ourselves.
But there’s a reason why this is valuable. Learning to say no to things we want that might be detrimental to us is a way to train willpower and to learn the skill to appreciate what we have instead of what we might want.
Saying no to some of our desires and to our bad habits, is an excellent way to train us.

Saying no to your smartphone when you wake up, to the news when you’re working, saying no to mindlessly scrolling, etc.
It won’t be easy, but it might be worth it.

  • back and forth

Sometimes learning is going back and forth between two different opposites, trying to understand where is your place.

Even that useless back and forth in the same way, each day, can teach you something, if your mind is ready for it.

  • you don’t know

It’s hard for us to know which moments are important for others.

We can try to guess them, but it’s only when we’re there that we will truly understand how much a single moment in time will impact their lives.

As friends, we can only try our best to be there for the people we love, hoping to be there in those pivotal moments in their life.
