Come on, give me the chills

Thoughts about changing, life, and whatever comes to mind.

  • undeniable quality

When you find things that are so good, that the experience is unforgettable.

When you fell like sharing with the world your new finding, when you are so delighted by the customer experience or the craftsmanship.

That is the moment you have undeniable quality.
This kind of quality is the one that last, that improves the life of people.
It’s kinda like magic in the sense that it makes you wonder, it surprise you because you “hadn’t think of that”.

It’s the simplicity of quality itself, and it’s beautiful.

  • getting the order right

Sometimes you just don’t know what do to, in which order.

It’s all a matter of priorities, what comes before and what comes next.
But priorities change, even though nothing happens.
They changes because once you delay them, they gain priority, and so their power grows until they equal the other ones.

I guess it’s all a matter of accepting chaos.

  • what they rob you of, what they can’t steal

Today my parents discovered that someone entered their house and rob them of some valuables.

It’s sad, deeply sad. It makes fear grow into your mind, asking question like “am I safe?”
No one is safe after all, looking at the Tianjin explosion and the crater it left, the answer is even more obvious.

We live in an unsafe world, built upon safe foundations.
It has always been like this, maybe we’re not realizing it, but many things have shifted and we should feel lucky to be worried about robbing, and not life itself.

In many places in the world, right now, many people are fighting for their lives, and we the “civilized world” worries about robbing.

This is not to say that robbing is something we shouldn’t care of, it’s a serious problem and we must take it into consideration and at the same time compare it to the rest of the world.

Aside from this, what solutions do we have?
To live a replicable life, to build assets that can sustain us in case of failure so that, although robbing is a sad thing, we won’t lose our smile.

  • don’t quit too soon

A friend of mine told me to don’t quit, some weeks ago.
Only now I realized that I was so eager to change plans, to adapt to the new world, to be sure to not fail.

    Without listening to my intuition.

If I saw something, it was because of my intuition, if I reached my goals, it was because of intuition, skill and perseverance.
I don’t know if this thing about quitting is partly caused by my work.
As a web developer I am used to find the bug, fix it so I’m naturally inclined to think fast about fixing things.

But then again, the thought at the beginning stroke a chord within me.
“to be sure to not fail“.
    That’s why we quit.

We quit because we fear failure so much we’d gladly avoid it. I’m no exception in this.
Yes, my work might have guided me towards fixing but the fear is still there.
We don’t want to fail, to be saw as failure, humans that can’t accomplish, but in the real life it’s also thanks to failure that we, as humans, grew and learned.

That failure let us understand what would happen if we took a route instead of another.
And the worst thing is… failure comes in the same journey as success.

If you quit you give up on failure, but also on success.

  • it’s worth sharing trouble, just don’t share the complaint

We got what we deserve, let’s admit it.
Every single time we either don’t share our struggle, our problem, or we share a complaint, we complain because we just want to be listened.

And in those dark, deep moments where everything goes wrong we don’t realize that what we really need is help, not listening.

Listening is nice, it lets you feel part of something, but if we are in the shit, why in the world listening would be better than some real help?
Also, how can we expect to get help if all we care about is sharing the complaint not the problem?

The more I go forward the more it’s clear to me that removing ego and our(my) egoistic nature is part of improving.

Accepting our ignorance, our ability to need help, our vulnerability, is part of something we all should strive for.
